And I think that proving myself was something that went on for quite some time with the band members. I still never wanted Journey to go away, because it was something that I was there from the beginning and started. Much like a lot of people are. Its what I do. So they thought that I would be a good addition to the band. [laughs] I think I needed some time off, what do you think? When I did drink, it was in excess. Which in those days was not good. He's been with me since about 1976, so he's really got it down. Another thing: I used to race bicycles when I was a kid, so I know about second wind and going into overdrive. I would have neverI would have never thought that was gonna happen. We were destroyed by thathe was a wonderful singer, a wonderful bass player, and a great guy, and he was part of a real interesting chemistry that Columbia wanted to sign. **. Im just happy to be on the right track now, for once in a row. We toured probably nine, ten months a year, and the other two months that were left, we were in the studio making more new music, and then wed get right back out there. Everyone thought I would move back to L.A. , but the Starship required a drummer at that time so I joined them. And then finally, months went by, and the band got impatient. But thats okay.
